Got a new project? Starting a new project can seem daunting when thinking of all of the major components that it is comprised of. Portney, Mantel, Meredith, Shafer, and Sutton (2008) say that the success of a project is dependent on three principal components, the outcome, scheduling, and the resources. The hardest of the three comes with scheduling. Scheduling entails a project manager planning a series of activities and resources that move a project to completion. Here are a few resources that can help you to begin.
Tim Slade offers a multitude of resources for those who are working to become designers of eLearning. He has co-authored a book series entitled “E-Learning Uncovered”, he is a renowned eLearning speaker, as well as an award-winning designer. Slade offers training, consulting, and coaching in eLearning and design services. His blog presents insight to some major topics for new designers. Specifically, he presents a how-to on designing a project schedule here.
Tim Slade's blog is helpful as an instructional designer and as project manager. I would use his information during the beginning stages of any project that I was assigned.
A website created by Duane Shoemaker, Instructional Design Expert presents from the basics of instructional design to more intricate topics that incorporate the stages of project design.
This site has potential that hasn’t been fully reached. It offers new instructional designers the foundational information for project design. However, when considering this information from the project management lens, it not as helpful with pulling the project together.

Your site looks great, and you offered some wonderful resources. The Slade blog is a treasure trove of information. Thanks for sharing it.

Tim also provides books and YouTube videos that help explain important areas of eLearning. I viewed the Youtube video, What skills do you need to be an elearning designer. This five-minute video explained three elements necessary for becoming an learning designer and at the end Tim asked the audience a question that they are to respond in the comment section (Slade, 2018). The video segment of this learning format is an excellent tool to help the ID and PM when prepar…
